I woke up groggy in the cabin I was staying in and to my dismay realized I had failed to pack the one thing I currently viewed as essential: coffee. In a desperate hope to find some nearby, I ventured onto Yelp where I sifted through a small amount of shops before giving up. I sighed a small sigh of defeat and willed myself to push through the fog without a cup of happiness. Later that morning as my family and I ventured into the small construction ridden town of Grand Lake, my curiosity was sparked as we journeyed down the rickety boardwalk. A small window stood proud in the side of a building with a lace drape decorating the sill and locally made jam holding it into place. I stepped up to the window questioningly as no person seemed to be present but was quickly greeted by a young woman. Sheepishly, as I was literally standing at a hole in a wall, I questioned her: "do you have coffee?" She nodded kindly assuring me that they did and took my excitement into tow as I grinned and professed my desire for it. She stepped away from the window to start the brew and I peaked inside taking in the jars of beans, coffee grinders and presumably, waffle makers. The coffee window only had one blend to offer but as I raised it to my lips I discovered it boasted a mild berry flavor. It definitely wasn't a coffee if you were feeling adventurous but, it hit the spot as a calming, start of the day coffee. As I waited for my family to return for me from where they had wandered off to, I settled into a sunflower decorated picnic table. Time passed and as I slowly sipped on my coffee people passed by the window taking drinks and waffles with them on their way. The sun shone down causing the flower vase to glisten and as I stood to leave I took in the window one last time. I had found a true hole in the wall coffee shop and that alone was adventure enough for me.
